Synopsis:

A seventysomething guy befriends a young Wilderness Ranger, and the two have lots of adventures - yet still manage to eat dinner at 3:30 in the afternoon. Animated.

Our Thoughts:

Sure, we don’t really know a whole lot about Pixar’s next film, Up, as of yet, but we’re already excited.

Based on their track record alone, it’s likely their next film will be a hit as well.

Still, after revamping the animated world with the nearly silent WALL-E (2008), it’s a bit disappointing they are going back to the old animation style (ie, character voices are a big part of the film).

Maybe they feel any attempt at producing another near silent movie would be viewed as just trying to copy WALL-E (2008)’s success - but this is Pixar! When have they ever needed to copy anyone - even themselves? Time after time, they’ve shown they are one of the last truly original studios around, and their fans will continue to flock to anything they put out.

It was said at one point during the height of his popularity that Stephen King could publish a grocery list and it would be a bestseller. Well, with Pixar’s unprecedented success rate, they easily could rest on their laurels and come out with shlock - and it would still probably be a major hit.

Thankfully, just as King never got around to publishing that grocery list, Pixar doesn’t seem to be slowing down yet, so start making plans now to see Up in theaters next summer.
