Synopsis:

An obsessive Interpol agent (Owen) and a Manhattan assistant district attorney (Watts) investigate a powerful high-profile banking institution, in an attempt to expose the financial giant’s connections with worldwide arms brokering and murder.

Our Thoughts:

After seeing Clive Owen in Sin City (2005), Children Of Men (2006) and the hilarious Shoot ‘Em Up (2007), I’m interested in seeing what’s he doing next. So, when I heard he was starring in an upcoming movie called The International, I marked it down as a future must-see.

Teaming him with Naomi Watts (King Kong, the upcoming Funny Games (2008)) seems like a good idea. After all, if she could hold her own next to funnyman Jack Black and a CGI gorilla, chances are she’ll be able to take on a more serious role easily.

The plot sounds intriguing, with an Interpol agent and a assistant DA taking on a huge financial institution. Two against a faceless evil entity is always intriguing, and if Armin Mueller-Stahl (recently of Eastern Promises (2007)) is the token face of that instituion, this one sounds like it’s got the makings of a definite hit.

If the trailer can manage to keep our interest, we’ll probably chance paying the big bucks for this one.
