★★★★☆ Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber Of Fleet Street (2007)

Plot: Benjamin Parker (Depp), unjustly sent to prison, vows revenge, not only for that cruel punishment, but for the devastating consequences of what happened to his wife and daughter. When he returns, he takes on a new name, Sweeney Todd, reopens his barber shop, and becomes the Demon Barber of Fleet Street who “shaved the heads of gentlemen who never thereafter were heard from again.” Based on the musical thriller by Stephen Sondheim.

 

Golden Globe Winners 2008

Although the Golden Globes ceremony was cancelled due to the Writer’s Guild Strike, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association released the names of the winners starting at 9pm EST, with NBC airing the names as they were announced. Here are the nominees…and the winners.

 

★★★½☆ Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World’s End (2007)

Plot: As Will Turner (Bloom) and Elizabeth Swann (Knightley) team up with Captain Barbossa (Rush) in a desperate attempt to free Jack Sparrow (Depp) from Davy Jones’ locker, the East India Trading Company uses ghost ships to take control of the seas.

It turns out Gene has been chosen for a job and given a choice: either assassinate the Governor of California by 1:30 pm - or his daughter dies. With only 1 hour and 16 minutes before the deadline, time is definitely not on Gene’s side…
