★★★★☆ The Kingdom (2007)

Plot: When a terrorist bomb detonates inside a Western housing compound in Saudi Arabia, FBI Special Agent Ronald Fleury (Foxx) quickly assembles an elite team and secretly negotiates a 5-day trip into Saudi Arabia to locate the madman behind the bombing. Once there, however, they discover themselves hamstringed by Saudi officials, who don’t appreciate them poking their noses in what they consider to be a local matter.

★☆☆☆☆ Miami Vice (2006)

Plot: When a couple of undercover agents are gunned down by white supremacists, Crockett (Farrelll) and Tubbs (Foxx) go deep undercover to try and bring down the drug smuggling operation behind the killings. But, when Crockett falls for the boss’ wife Isabella (Li), they start blurring the edges between reality and their false identites. Based on the characters from the 1980’s TV show of the same name.

★★★☆☆ Jarhead (2005)

Plot: Anthony “Swoff” Swofford (Gyllenhaal) is a new recruit in the Marines - but he can’t figure out why he ever signed up. As his unit passes from Boot Camp to Operation: Desert Shield, they discover that most of this war will be about waiting, not killing. Now, with the threat of war looming tantalizingly close on the horizon, Swof must do his best to combat the boredom any way he can - before the waiting drives him crazy. Based on the novel by Anthony Swofford.
