Nim’s Island (2008)
Plot: Nim (Breslin) lives on a magical island with her scientist father. When her father is lost at sea and the island is invaded, she calls out to her favorite author Alexandra (Foster) to come save her. 300 (2007)
Plot: Based on the epic graphic novel by Frank Miller, 300 is a ferocious retelling of the ancient Battle of Thermopylae in which King Leonidas (Butler) and 300 Spartans fought to the death against Xerxes and his massive Persian army.
Timeline (2003)
Plot: While on a dig at Castlegard, France, a group of archaeologists uncover a note written by the head of their dig (Connelly), who has been away on business for two weeks. The interesting part is that the note is carbon-dated to 1357! They investigate, and are whisked away to New Mexico by a company called ICS. At ICS, they discover that the scientists have stumbled across time travel, and the professor is trapped in 1357. Now they must go back and rescue the professor within 6 hours…or none of them is ever coming back. Based on the novel by Michael Crichton.
Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle Of Life (2003)
Plot: Lara Croft (Jolie), the wealthy English archaeologist, is searching for a lost temple when she discovers a golden orb. After her friends are killed and the orb is stolen, she discovers that the orb is a map to the legendary Pandora’s Box. To find the orb she needs the help of ex-flame Terry Sheridan (Butler) who she must first release from prison. She hasn’t got much time, because evil genius Reiss (Hinds) is determined to open Pandora’s box and unleash a plague of biblical proportions upon humanity. Based on the popular video game series.
Reign Of Fire (2002)
Plot: While visiting his mother on a construction site, a young boy, Quinn, finds a new species down in the tunnels…and barely survives to tell the tale. 20 years later, Quinn (Bale) leads a band of surviving humans, guarding against the next dragon attack. Quinn meets Van Zan (McConaughey), whose claims of killing a dragon help convince Quinn to travel to London to kill the only male dragon, in the hopes the species will die out without him, and give back the earth to humanity…what remains of it.
Dracula 2000 (2000)
Plot: Abraham Van Helsing (Plummer) has been hiding a couple of things from his assistant Simon (Miller) in his antiques shop. Abraham is the keeper of Dracula’s (Butler) remains, locked deep below the shop. After a break-in frees Dracula, it’s up to Simon and Abraham to stop him before he finds Abraham’s daughter, Mary (Waddell).
