Synopsis:

Brennan (Ferrell) and Dale (Reilly) have spent their lives as coddled single children, living with their respective parent. But when their parents marry each other, Brennan and Dale have to make the best of their new situation.

Our Thoughts:

Yikes, another Will Ferrell “comedy” is heading down the pipeline this summer, and it looks just as bad as most of his previous attempts at humor.

With his turn in the dramedy (comedy/drama) Stranger Than Fiction (2006), Will Ferrell finally proved he was actually likable on screen (for the first time, in our humble opinion). Instead of continuing on the road to recognition as a decent actor, Ferrell instead turns and chucks himself back into mindless comedies.

Step Brothers is the latest of these horror-fests set to laugh tracks, and re-teams him with Talladega Nights: The Ballad Of Ricky Bobby (2006) co-star John C. Reilly. This time around, audiences are supposed to laugh at a couple of pathetic still-live-with-their-parents manchildren as they attempt to cope with having a new relative.

Like most dumb comedies, the trailer gives away most of the rest. The two (agreeing on stupid things like favorite dinosaur) go from not liking each other to being the best of friends, then are forced to actually find jobs.

Yawn. Already I’m hoping for my money back, and I’ve only seen the trailer.

Just like Blades Of Glory (2007) last year, Step Brothers has my vote for worst movie of the year.

Congratulations, Will, that’s 2 in a row - care to go for 3? Please say no.
