Spring Movie Preview 2008
Now that 2008 has arrived, we take a look at movies coming our way, and let you know what we think will hit the biggest in theaters this spring.
January
With all the hype surrounding the new JJ Abrams produced monster movie Cloverfield (2008), everyone’s going to be flocking to this one. Whether it will turn out to be the new Independence Day or just another Godzilla (1998), the hype behind this “secret” movie will make people have to see for themselves. Cloverfield (2008) attacks theaters January 18, 2008. Also in January: Rambo (2008) and Untraceable (2008).
February
While some got a glimpse at Hayden Christensen’s post-Star Wars career with Awake (2007), the Samuel L. Jackson co-starrer Jumper (2008) will really prove if he can make it work. With this action/sci-fi flick about people who can teleport themselves from one spot to another, it should attract a decent crowd. Plus, it’s got a blond Samuel L. Jackson - isn’t that reason enough to see it? Jumper (2008) slides into theaters February 14, 2008. Also in February: The Spiderwick Chronicles (2008), Vantage Point (2008), Be Kind Rewind (2008) and Semi-Pro (2008).
March
Dr Seuss’ Horton Hears A Who! (2008) is the first major animated film of 2008, and re-teams Bruce Almighty (2003) co-stars Jim Carrey and Steve Carell as Horton and the Who, respectively. Larger-than-life comedian Jim Carrey as an orange elephant who gets to banter back and forth with a Steve Carrell-voiced Who no one else can see - how can this fail? Dr Seuss’ Horton Hears A Who! (2008) tumbles into theaters March 14, 2008. Also in March: 10,000 BC (2008), Doomsday (2008), Funny Games (2008) and Drillbit Taylor (2008).
April
Martial Arts legends Jackie Chan and Jet Li team up for their latest pic, The Forbidden Kingdom (2008). These two have major followings on their own, so putting them together may exceed all expectations. Let’s just hope this one’s in English and not dubbed. The Forbidden Kingdom (2008) kicks into theaters on April 18, 2008. Also in April: Nim’s Island (2008), and Harold and Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay (2008).
So there are our predictions for the hits of Spring 2008. Be sure to check these out in theaters just to prove we were right, won’t you? And don’t forget to come back here May 1st for our Summer Movie Preview 2008!
