• Vickie Guerrero tells Mr. McMahon that Teddy Long has been in a coma since last week, and his condition hasn’t changed. Vince says “the show must go on” and names Vickie Guerrero the new SmackDown General Manager. Finlay shows up, and Vince walks off with him discussing how he may help Vince with the problems Vince has been having with Hornswoggle.
  • Victoria def. Torrie Wilson, with Victoria using the ropes to help pin her.
  • After the match, a blonde girl gets into the ring and attacks Torrie Wilson.
  • MVP comes out to host “The VIP Lounge”, and joins a bunch of “party people” already in the ring, there to celebrate his one year anniversary on SmackDown (he started on September 26, 2006). MVP announces that if Teddy Long doesn’t return, he will be known for at least one good thing: signing MVP to SmackDown. MVP says he’s proud of capturing the Tag Team Titles with the man who has been “riding his coattails”: Matt Hardy.
  • Hardy’s music hits and he makes his way to the ring. When MVP asks Hardy why he’s there, Matt says he “had to be there” because he’s his Tag Team partner, and he’s brought gifts. Gift #1: A video highlight reel, which includes MVP getting stunned by “Stone Cold”, hit by Evander Holyfield, burned by Kane, and losing contests to Matt Hardy. Saying it’s a joke, Hardy moves on to Gift #2: a bottle of Cristal. Hardy proposes a toast: MVP is the most “arrogant, over-rated, pathetic….” MVP cuts him short, and calls for security. Hardy
    stops him, saying he got MVP a match to celebrate MVP’s one-year anniversary - versus Kane.
  • A promo airs for ECW’s Big Daddy V.

  • Jesse & Festus talk about their in-ring debut, coming next week.
  • Batista responds to questions from Michael Cole and JBL. When JBL asks if Batista is scared about facing The Great Khali in a Punjabi Prison Match at No Mercy 10.07.07, Batista says he’s looking forward to it, and they should remember that when he’s locked into a cage or backed into a corner, people get hurt.
  • Kane def. MVP by DQ after MVP delivers a blatant low blow to Kane right in front of the ref.
  • The Diva Search Finalists talk about the Limbo competition, and Lindy was eliminated this week. Contest #3: Obstacle Course now playing on wwe.com
  • Rey Mysterio faces The Great Khali next week on SmackDown.
  • JBL gets in the ring to interview Rey Mysterio. Rey and JBL argue in the ring, with JBL letting him know that he hates to watch people in the ring who have “half his talent” in the ring. Rey Mysterio tells him to “put up or shut up”. JBL tells him he should be more worried about facing The Great Khali in the ring next week, then shoves Rey into the ropes. Rey rebounds, delivering the 619 to JBL before Finlay attacks Rey with the shillelagh.
  • Backstage, Vickie tells Hornswoggle that winning the Cruiserweight Champion was a fluke, and she’s a little concerned with his safety, because everyone wants to be Mr. McMahon’s son and become the new Cruiserweight Championship. So, Vickie proposes that Hornswoggle should abdicate the Cruiserweight Championship…and takes the title from him.

  • The Great Khali, through his interpreter, tells Batista to watch his match against Rey Mysterio next week, and says that at No Mercy 10.07.07, in the Punjabi Prison Match, The Great Khali will have no fear, no remorse…and no mercy.
