• Rey Mysterio returns to SmackDown tonight.
  • Teddy Long is in the ring with The Great Khali. Teddy says they will find out who The Great Khali’s opponent is at Unforgiven 09.16.07 by having a Championship Competition. 1st Match: Finlay vs. Kane, with the winner going on to face the winner of Match #2: Batista vs. Rey Mysterio.
  • Before their match can get underway, Kane takes Finlay’s shillelagh and throws it up the ramp..and doesn’t notice Hornswoggle putting another shillelagh in Finlay’s corner.
  • Finlay def. Kane in the 1st Championship Competition Match after hitting Kane with the replacement shillelagh while Hornswoggle distracts the referee.
  • Jesse says Festus has the face of an “Academic All-American”
  • MVP & Matt Hardy def. Deuce N’ Domino to become the new WWE Tag Team Champions

    • after MVP comes in last minute to score the pinfall.

  • After the match, MVP celebrates with the belts in the ring while Matt Hardy recovers on the outside.
  • Backstage, Mr. McMahon asks Batista if he thinks Batista could be his son. Batista says he was raised by a single mom who worked her fingers to the bone to keep food on the table…and says if he found out Vince was his dad, and never contributed a dime, Batista would “beat him unmercifully”. Vince decides there isn’t a resemblance between the two of them.
  • 3 weeks from tonight, Teddy Long marries Kristal on SmackDown in Atlanta, GA
  • Eugene is in the ring, shooting t-shirts to the crowd…and Mark Henry walks out. Eugene accidentally shoots a t-shirt at Mark Henry, and Henry makes quick work of him. Henry says the Undertaker is coming back at Unforgiven 09.16.07 - and that’s fine with him. Undertaker’s music hits, and the video screen shows a hand coming out of the sand in Death Valley.
  • Rey Mysterio def. Batista in the 2nd Championship Competition Match by DQ after Finlay brings a chair to the ring. Batista grabs the chair and goes to attack Finlay, but the ref grabs the chair as well. When the ref won’t let go, Batista pushes him, causing the disqualification.
  • It’s announced that Ashley will be on Survivor: China this coming season.
  • Mr. McMahon and Coach come to the ring. Mr. McMahon says that while Triple H suggested he slept with 4 “freaks” on RAW, Mr. McMahon has only slept with beautiful women. Coach agrees, and says he has brought examples to prove it: From 1983, #1 Cheryl; From New Year’s Eve 1977, #2 Teresa, Elizabeth and Skye; #3 Sister Mary Katherine, all of whom exclaim about McMahon’s prowess. Mr. McMahon goes on to say that on this coming Monday Night’s RAW, Linda, Stephanie and Shane are coming to “confront” him, and he hopes they can put their differences aside, put aside their greed, and embrace his illegitimate son.
  • As Chris Masters goes to set up for the Masterlock Challenge against Chuck Palumbo, but ends up hitting Palumbo with a cheap shot. Palumbo recovers and attacks Masters, who rolls out of the ring and scrambles up the ramp.
  • Backstage, Shannon Moore comes up to Jamie Noble to wish him luck next week in his Cruiserweight Championship Match against Hornswoggle. Noble gets in Moore’s face, saying nobody will be laughing next week. Moore wishes him good luck again, slapping him on the back as he leaves…and putting a “I Love Leprechauns” sign on Noble’s back.
  • Rey Mysterio def. Finlay in the Championship Competion Final

    • to win the chance to face The Great Khali for the World Heavyweight Championship at Unforgiven 09.16.07.

  • The Great Khali comes out and stands face to chest with Rey Mysterio, then pushes him hard enough to cut Rey’s face. As The Great Khali is set up to deliver the Claw to Rey Mysterio, Batista comes out, knocking Khali to his knees. Rey delivers the 619 to Khali, who staggers back, only to be speared by Batista.
