Teddy Long comes out to say that Edge was injured last week, and his personal physician says he cannot compete for the next 30 days. Therefore, per the WWE rules, a champion must defend his title within that timeframe, so Edge must come out tonight and relinquish his World Heavyweight Championship, introduces Edge. Edge comes out and says that during Kane’s attack on him last week, his pec was torn to the bone, and he will have to be out 4 months for surgery, and then shows a tribute video of himself. Teddy Long says that tonight there will be a 20-man over-the-top Battle Royal tonight - and the winner will become the new World Heavyweight Champion. He asks Edge to give him the title again - and Edge refuses, asking Teddy to wait 30 days to crown a new champ. Teddy says no, and Edge grudgingly hands over the title.
