Table of contents for Saw (2004)
Synopsis:
Jigsaw’s (Bell) puzzles continue even after his death in this 5th installment, which is rumored to show what happened to Jeff’s (MacFadyen) missing daughter from Saw III (2006), as well as shed some light on the reasons Jigsaw uses the doll and the tricycle.
Our Thoughts:
October’s coming, so that means another Saw (2004) sequel is on it’s way..and for a fifth installment, we’re still decently excited.
The original, Saw (2004), was one of the best horror movies to come along recently, and it totally blew us away.
Then, the inevitable sequel hit - and was a huge dissapointment. Still thinking about how good the first film was, I stuck around through the next 2 sequels and was actually pleased I did. They weren’t as good as the first film, of course, but the more sequels in this series, the more one begans to realize they aren’t sequels at all - merely later parts of the same lengthy film.
True, some of the sequels don’t fare well on their own, but when pieced together in the series, they reveal clues that hint that all of the characters seem to tie together in some, as yet, unexplained way.
Think of the films as Jigsaw’s biggest puzzle, and keep sticking around, as more clues continue to be revealed, and you should enjoy the sequels.
For instance, with Saw V, they seem to be picking up where Saw III (2006) left off, with Jeff’s (MacFadyen) missing daughter (Saw IV (2007), rather than continuing on that storyline, instead picked up from the events of Saw II (2005) - but ended up fitting in nicely with Saw III (2006) eventually).
Let’s just hope that the final film (said to be either the 6th or 7th in the series) will be worth the wait. Will Adam (Whannell) show up (remember, he’s still in the bathroom) and the series will end as it began? Or is there something else hidden up Jigsaw’s now-decomposing sleeve? All answers will be revealed (hopefully), so why would you want to leave now?
For you newcomers, watch the rest of the series first - it’ll make Saw V or any future film much more impactful.
