JBL def. Chris Jericho by DQ after Jericho cracks JBL in the skull with a chair
After the match, Jericho grabs a cable and wraps it around JBL’s neck. Jericho then strings the cable over the top rope before climbing on the announce table and continuing to choke JBL
Backstage, Ashley goes to Maria’s dressing room. Santino Marella comes out and says that Maria can’t talk, as she’s getting ready for the 1st ever HD “Kiss Cam.” When Ashley starts arguing with him, Santino tells Ashley he wishes he could vote her off of WWE like they did in “Survivor,” then slams the door in her face.
Teddy Long pushes Vickie Guerrero to ringside for Edge’s match, followed by Curt Hawkins and Zach Ryder
Edge def. Rey Mysterio to retain his World Heavyweight Championship after Vickie distracts the ref before he can count Rey’s pin on Edge, then Vickie blocks Rey’s 619 on Edge, getting the brunt of the hit on the back of her neck.
During the match, Curt Hawkins and Zach Ryder are ejected by the ref after he catches them threatening Rey Mysterio.
Backstage, Mr. Kennedy congratulates Ric Flair on his win tonight…but before he can continue further, Shawn Michaels pops up, causing Mr. Kennedy to leave the room in disgust. Batista and Triple H show up, with both of them glaring at each other and saying “the best man will win” tonight. Shawn Michaels gets between them and says that they all can agree that “the very best man” will win tonight - then shamelessly promotes his t-shirt.
Maria comes out and does the 1st ever Royal Rumble “Kiss Cam.” As she is about to leave, Ashley comes out. Ashley says she talked to ‘Hef’ last week, and he wants to know if Maria would like to pose for Playboy. Before Maria can answer, Santino comes out, followed by a person covered totally in black cloth. Santino tells Ashley the answer is No, then insults all of the professional New York teams. When Maria hesitates, Santino unveils the person in cloth - and it’s the overweight male stripper, scantily clad in New England Patriots attire. After gagging while watching him dance, Ashley attacks the stripper with a couple of rubber chickens he brought with him, causing him to roll out of the ring.

Michael Buffer announces the start of the Royal Rumble Match, explains the rules and does his patented “Let’s Get Ready To Rumble”, before introducing the first 2 participants: The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels.
John Cena returns to win the Royal Rumble Match and is guaranteed a championship match at Wrestlemania XXIV 03.30.08 with the Champion of his choice.
