• Stephanie and Shane McMahon again implore the WWE Superstars to work together in this time of strife for the McMahon family. They say if the WWE Superstars are not going to make this work, serious action will be taken.
  • Shawn Michaels is attacking Chris Jericho as RAW begins. Lance Cade comes out and separates the two of them - and Kane makes his way down the ramp. Kane walks over to the announcer’s table, glares at Jerry Lawler and Michael Cole, and finally grunts out “I’m sorry.” Michaels and Jericho continue fighting backstage until the refs pull them apart.
  • Mickie James def. Katie Lea while Paul Burchill watches from ringside.
  • After the match, Paul Burchill gets in the ring and holds Mickie James while Katie attacks her. Kofi Kingston runs to the ring, causing Katie and Paul to flee. Kofi gestures to Paul to get in the ring, and Katie pushes her brother towards the ring.

  • Backstage, Santino Marella tells Matt Stryker that he’s issued an open challenge to the locker room, and he will beat someone so badly no one will remember his defeat to Rey Mysterio. Kane shows up and demands to know where CM Punk is. Santino directs Kane to the locker room.
  • Kane mutters “deep down inside, I know he’s dead.”, then tells CM Punk he needs to be in the ring tonight. When CM Punk asks why Kane is challenging him to a match so close to The American Bash, Kane says tonight isn’t about the title, saying “I need this.” CM Punk says he needs to prove to the naysayers that he deserves the title, so CM Punk agrees - then asks Kane what’s up with the bag Kane is holding. Kane just laughs.
  • In an interview backstage, John Cena talks about the New York City Parking Lot Brawl that JBL has challenged him to at The Great American Bash. When Cena asks himself why he accepted the match, Cena says that he and JBL have a long history, and it seems fitting to finish it at The Great American Bash.
  • Cena then tells JBL that he and Cryme Tyme will face JBL and two partners of his choosing in a 6-Man Tag Team Match tonight - if JBL has the guts.
  • Santino Marella comes to the ring, and waits to see who accepted his “open challenge” - and out walks Beth Phoenix.

  • Kelly Kelly comes out for a match. Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase Jr. come out, and tell her to leave. After Kelly leaves, Cody says they aren’t their fathers - they’re better. Ted agrees, saying that they won’t even enter their prime for another 10 years.
  • “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan comes to the ring and says he’s known them since they were kids. He also knows their fathers, also. But, he says, unlike Cody & Ted, they always respected their roots. “Hacksaw” tells them they are really talented, but as people, they have a lot of growing up to do.
  • Cody says when he thinks of the phrase “grow up,” he thinks of a 50+ year old man coming out in gym shorts trying to relive his prime. Ted says that, like “Stone Cold” used to say: “if you don’t think you have what it takes to be champion, you shouldn’t be in the WWE.” Ted says Jim doesn’t have what it takes, and he’s pathetic.
  • JBL shows up on the Trinitron, and says they don’t have to pay any dues, which is why he’s inviting them to help JBL main event RAW tonight against Cena & Cryme Tyme. Cody & Ted accept.
  • CM Punk def. Kane by count-out
  • After the match, Kane starts attacking CM Punk. Kane grabs a chair and puts CM Punk’s head in it, then climbs up to the top rope - and out comes Batista.
  • Batista attcks Kane, delivering a chair shot that knocks Kane out of the ring. Batista helps CM Punk up. CM Punk staggers to his feet, then sticks out his hand to Batista. Batista shakes his head, makes a gesture about the championship, then pats CM Punk on the cheek. CM Punk gets upset and shoves Batista, causing Batista to give him a Batista Bomb.
  • Chris Jericho def. Paul London by submission.
  • After the match, Jericho starts ranting to London that he can choose to go either the “good” route (ala Jericho) or the “bad” route (ala Michaels) until Shawn Michaels comes out. Michaels says that supposedly Jericho has taken the path of “righteousness” and “truth” - but Jericho doesn’t even know what those words mean. But, Michaels continues, they agree on one thing - “the worst is yet to come.”

  • Backstage, Jamie Noble tells Layla he’s noticed she’s been looking at him, and they could be the new power couple at WWE. Layla says she doesn’t date short men. Jamie Noble says he makes up for his tallness in the ring - and to prove it, he’s going to fight the next person to show up. Snitsky shows up, and thanks to a little prompting from Layla, Noble starts insulting Snitsky and challenges Snitsky to a fight in the ring. Layla starts begging him to stop, but Noble ignores her.
  • Snitsky beats up Noble, then leaves him lying in the ring, as Layla watches from ringside.
  • John Cena & Cryme Tyme def. JBL, Ted DiBiase Jr. & Cody Rhodes in a 6-Man Tag Team Match by DQ.
  • After the match, JBL beckons Cena to follow him, then takes off into the back. JBL runs outside, and Cena follows. Cena looks around, then is hit from behind with a crowbar by JBL. JBL props Cena up in front of a car, then runs to another car, climbs in - and rams into the other car!
