Synopsis:
A multi-generational New York City police family’s moral code is tested when Ray (Norton), one of two sons on the force, investigates an incendiary case involving his older brother Frank (Emmerich) and brother-in-law Jimmy (Farrell). The case forces the family to choose between their loyalties to one another and their loyalties to the department.
Our Thoughts:
With Edward Norton fresh off of revitalizing ol’ green skin in The Incredible Hulk (2008), he has garnered quite a few new fans, who are sure to check him out once again when he stars opposite crowd fave Colin Farrell in the upcoming film Pride and Glory.
Since I’ve been a fan of Edward Norton’s since Primal Fear, I was definitely looking forward to seeing him go up against Colin Farrell in this latest flick.
After reading the plot outline, however, my first thought was this was actually a remake of the recent We Own The Night (2007). Sure, that film was good - but already a remake? Doesn’t sound appealing.
Thankfully, after watching the trailer over on the official site, I’m happy to say it looks like Pride and Glory is carving a little niche of it’s own in the police drama world.
Sure, it’s another family of cops, just like We Own The Night (2007), but this one looks to be full of more twists and turns than that film ever even dreamed about.
Knowing Norton and Farrell, they are going to do their best to make Pride And Glory something worth watching - and it probably will be.
For us, however, we’re a bit over police dramas at the moment, so we’ll wait for the DVD for this one, despite it’s promises.
