Synopsis:

Was there a hidden reason behind President Abraham Lincoln’s Assasination? That’s what treasure hunter Benjamin Gates (Cage) wants to discover - and the only clues may lie in the 18 missing pages of John Wilkes Booth’s diary.

Our Thoughts:

National Treasure (2004) was one of those films that looked good right from the first preview - and then turned out even better than expected.

National Treasure (2004) was what last summer’s flop The Da Vinci Code (2006) never even came close to achieving - an ancient mystery slowly unveiled in a way that was exciting enough to keep the audience’s rapt attention throughout the entire film. National Treasure (2004) left the audience feeling extremely satisfied with the time and money they’d spent on the film…even after the second or third viewings.

But, the first thing I thought when I heard about this sequel was not “oh yes!” but “oh no!”. There goes Hollywood, ruining another great film by producing a shoddy sequel just in the name of the almighty dollar - that was my initial reaction.

After checking out the trailer, however, I can say it looks as intriguing as the first. If future trailers continue to entice, we may just be first in line to catch this one.

Let’s just hope it doesn’t disappoint. After all, who needs another The Da Vinci Code (2006) fiasco?
