Synopsis:

The beautiful Carmen Colson (Lane) and her husband Wayne (Jane) become entangled in a scam with a bumbling, small time con artist (Gordon-Levitt) and his over-the-hill hitman partner the Blackbird (Rourke). Based on the novel by Elmore Leonard.

Our Thoughts:

First set to come out back in ‘06, Elmore Leonard’s latest novel-turned-film Killshot is currently set to finally arrive in theaters November 07, 2008.

Since I’m a big fan of Elmore Leonard’s novels, I’m always interested when another makes it to the big screen. So far, most of the adaptations have been pretty good, especially Get Shorty (1995) - although Be Cool (2005) and The Big Bounce (2004) are just a couple more examples of decent films made from his novels.

That’s why it was so surprising that Killshot kept getting bumped. With Leonard’s success rate in theaters and the large cast of well-known actors that are associated with the film (among them Mickey Rourke, Thomas Jane, Diane Lane and Rosario Dawson), it seemed like a sure bet for The Weinstein Company.

Now that it’s been in hiatus for 2 years, one has to wonder why such a long delay. Since I haven’t heard a reason as of yet as to why the movie was postponed, my thoughts immediately wander towards “is it really that bad?”

After 2 years of waiting, will Killshot finally make it’s November 7th release date, or will it be postponed yet again? And if it does make the release date - will it be worth seeing?

Let’s hope a trailer comes along soon to assuage our fears on the possible next postponement (althought that didn’t help Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince (2009) from getting bumped half a year recently) - and let’s hope the film is worth the long wait.
