Synopsis:

At his dying father’s behest , young Goku (Chatwin) seeks Master Roshi (Yun-Fat) to train for his quest to recover the seven magical Dragon Balls before they fall into the hands of the evil Lord Piccolo (Marsters). Based on manga created by Akira Toriyama.

Our Thoughts:

While neither Heather or I are big bans of the anime “Dragonball Z,” this movie sounds like it could be interesting.

With Justin Chatwin (who we have newfound respect for after his performance in The Invisible (2007)) goes up against James Marsters (Spike from “Buffy The Vampire Slayer”) in what’s sure to be a special-effects laden fight fest? Sounds like fun.

And we know James Wong can do the job, as he’s proved with both Final Destination (2000) and The One.

With the creative juices of 87Eleven (the company behind many of the special effects for The Matrix (1999) and 300 (2007)) in the mix, Dragonball sounds like eye-popping fun.

Hey, maybe this one will be the Mortal Kombat of 2008 - a bit cheesy, but loads of fun.

Let’s just hope Wong doesn’t forget to toss a plot in there amidst the special effects.
