Synopsis:

Chev Chelios (Statham) faces a Chinese mobster who has stolen his nearly indestructible heart and replaced it with a battery-powered ticker that requires regular jolts of electricity to keep working.

Our Thoughts:

Jason Statham’s wackiest character to date, Chev Chelios, is back for round 2 in next year’s Crank 2: High Voltage - and we can’t wait.

Crank (2006) was a nonstop, wacked-out, adrenaline-laden, jittery rush, and we’re hoping Crank 2 is more of the same. If ever we wanted a sequel for a film, Crank (2006) was it -but it’s also the one film we never expected a sequel to…

After the end of the first film, we thought there would be no way a sequel would ever come down the pipe. To our surprise - and apparently inspired by a video of a skydiver who’s chute didn’t open but who still walked away from the landing thanks to an adrenaline rush - the sequel is now in the works.

Other than the fact there is a sequel, the biggest surprise is in the casting, as Corey Haim (!) joins the mix this time around.

Corey Haim? Seriously? Sure, he was fun back in The Lost Boys and License To Drive with his buddy Corey Feldman, but what’s he doing back in film? Is their VH1® celeb-reality show “The Two Coreys” that popular it resurrected his film career? It can’t be because of the direct-to-video sequel Lost Boys: The Tribe, can it?

If Corey #2 (I always thought of Feldman as Corey #1, didn’t you?) is trying to resurrect his film career, he couldn’t have picked a better movie to do it with. Crank 2 is bound to toss him into some half-crazed situation that should get his old fans to sit up and take notice - and bring him some new fans as well.

Be that as it may, Crank 2’s main focus is Jason Statham, and we can’t wait to see what they put his character Chev through this time around.

While many are starting to get excited about Statham returning for The Transporter 3 (2008) in November, we could take it or leave it - but we’re definitely going to be there for Crank 2 when it hits theaters April 2009.
