I’d never heard of this film until a friend brought it home from the video store. I watched the trailer. It starred two “Buffy”/”Angel” characters, Alyson Hannigan and Alexis Denisof. The trailer looked a bit comical, if maybe a little stupid, but I decided to give it a shot anyway.
The characters were all horribly acted. Alyson, a long-time fave of mine from “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” (who was also a great addition to the American Pie cast), apparently can’t survive after her long-time recurring series role has come to an end. To make ends meet, apparently, she’s got to leap at any chance to act, no matter how bad the movie is. But, c’mon, even if you’re desperate, Alyson, this film isn’t worth it. Things can’t be that bad.
Of course, the same goes for you, Denisof.
Esposito, Kinski - I’m sorry, I can’t come up with an excuse for you two. Maybe you two just took your cues from Alyson and Alexis, and just matched the bad acting level they were performing on. I don’t know.
The plot. Well, let’s see…the trailer sets this up as being a movie about three girls who rob a casino. So, as the movie continues to drag on and on, you begin to wonder if that scene is going to happen at all, or if it was left on the cutting room floor. Then, suddenly, near the end of the movie…you must have blinked, because you missed it.
But by that point (if you’re still even awake), you just don’t care anymore. The scenes barely even tie in together, and you lose interest within the first 10 or 15 minutes of the film anyway. After that, it’s like watching a car wreck: you don’t want to, but you can’t seem to turn away. You just have to see how bad it will get. And at least there, the movie doesn’t disappoint.
This has got to be the worst movie I’ve seen since Spider-Man (2002). Yes, it’s that bad. Basically, the film seems to have a message for it’s viewers: if you’re going to act badly, don’t just settle for crappy, go for all out horrible - and keep trying to top that level of badness in each and every scene in the film.
Alyson and Alexis: Please don’t do this to us again. You’ve had your fun making the worst movie you could, now please don’t torture us with another one. Okay?
