Synopsis:

Chloe (Barrymore) a spoiled Chihuahua from Beverly Hills, accidentally becomes lost on the mean streets of Mexico. Alone for the first time in her life, Chloe must rely on some new friends - including a street-smart German Shepherd named Delgado (Garcia) and an amorous pup named Papi (Lopez) - to lend her a paw and help her make her way back to the lap of luxury.

Our Thoughts:

Like us, you may have been sitting in a theater this summer, preparing to watch the latest big budget flick - and suddenly a teaser trailler full of dancing Chihuahuas appeared on the screen. So went our first introduction to the upcoming Disney live-action animal film, Beverly Hills Chihuahua.

After getting over the rather nonsensical (and incredibly lame) preview, our first thought was that we had no idea Paris Hilton had this much pull in Hollywood. After all, a chihuahua movie seemed to be right up Paris’ alley - especially since she has the world’s most famously pampered chihuahua.

Thankfully, another trailer made it’s way on to the scene, and we breathed a bit of a sigh of relief. Yes, the movie is still about chihuahuas, but it turns out it’s not the feature-length version of the dancing baby done chihuahua style - and Paris Hilton doesn’t show up at all.

Apparently, this rather silly-themed film has drawn quite a bit of star power, with Jamie Lee Curtis in a live-action role, and Drew Barrymore, George Lopez and Andy Garcia contributing their voice talents to some of the chihuahuas.

Unfortunately, the film is also directed by Raja Gosnell, whose past credits include the disappointing Scooby-Doo (2002) and it’s sequel.

Still, the new preview makes the film look - at the very least - better than either Scooby-Doo (2002) or the equally disappointing Garfield, so there may be hope yet. As long as the teaser trailer stays buried, this family film might actually be enjoyable.

Still, while Paris Hilton will probably show up for this one on opening day, we’re going to wait and check out Beverly Hills Chihuahua on DVD - and then only if we’ve heard good things about it.
