Benoit Update: Steroids? No, says WWE…plus, “Bizarre Text Messages”
Per the latest comments from WWE.com, the news has been sensationalizing the horrific double homicide-suicide of this past weekend involving Chris Benoit, his wife Nancy, and their son Daniel.
As can be expected surrounding the death of any wrestler these days, steroid use is the smoking gun everyone is using to explain this tragedy.
According to wwe.com, Chris Benoit, to their knowledge has NEVER used steroids, and in fact passed a drug test aimed at spotting steroids back in April of 2007. The investigators did not find any illegal medications at the home, steroids included - and, based on the evidence, investigators state they have no reason to suspect that Chris Benoit was on steroids.
Instead, based on the findings of investigators, these acts look to have been deliberate, not a case of ‘roid rage. These findings include the fact that there was as much as a day between each murder, and the fact that a Bible was found next to each victim.
Toxicology reports have not yet come back from the lab, so at this point, this is just a nasty rumor.
At this time, the motives for these senseless acts are as yet undetermined.
Also, wwe.com has released the “bizarre text messages” that friends of Chris Benoit received Sunday, both from Chris Benoit’s phone, and from his wife Nancy’s.
“My physical address is 130 Green Meadow Lane, Fayetteville Georgia. 30215″ was sent to 2 co-workers 3 times over the course of the day, with another co-worker receiving a similar message once.
Another message states “The dogs are in the enclosed pool area. Garage side door is open.”
