Bedtime Stories (2008)
Synopsis:
A handyman’s (Sandler) life changes when the lavish bedtime tales he tells to his niece and nephew start to magically come to life.
Our Thoughts:
While I’m glad that it seems Adam Sandler is going back to the less wacky comedies like Click (2006)with his upcoming film Bedtime Stories, I’m also disheartened.
As anyone who had a chance to check out my Inkheart (2009)preview, I’ve been looking forward to that film hitting theaters since I listened to the book. Despite it’s drawbacks (Brendan Fraser in a main role, the release date pushed back almost a year), I’ve still been excited to see it.
Now, with January 30, 2009 getting closer, I’ve started to regain hope the movie would be released and even possibly spawn the book sequel Inkworld.
But, with Sandler’s Bedtime Stories being released only a month earlier than Inkheart (2009), I’m thinking any hope I had for Inkheart (2009)sequels is going out the window.
After all, with the plots so similar (Bedtime Stories about stories that come to life, Inkheart (2009)about a man who pull story characters into the real world), chances are most movie goers will mistake Inkheart (2009)as a cheap imitation of Bedtime Stories.
Despite this being totally incorrect, with Bedtime Stories coming to theaters first, that’s going to be the general impression.
Hopefully, this isn’t actually a worry, and the Adam Sandler film will turn out to be something totally different from Inkheart (2009)- but I’m not holding my breath.
Guess I’ll have to wait for the Bedtime Stories preview and see for myself.
