Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009)
After seeing the way Michael Bay was able to bring the toys of my youth to vibrant and fantastic life in Transformers, I've been waiting for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen to hit theaters. So, of course, I avidly scrambled for all the news I could when this film landed in theaters this past Wednesday - and was surprised at all the negativity from the critics. Lots of high profile critics panned the film, citing no character development and large amounts of confusion as some of their main reasons.
Would this be another time I'd disagree with ...
Underworld: Rise Of The Lycans (2009)
When I first heard they were making another Underworld film, I was excited. After all, who doesn't want to see Kate Beckinsale kicking vampire and werewolf butt again? Then I found out this 3rd film was going to be a prequel - and Kate Beckinsale wasn't going to be in it. Instead, Rhona Mitra was going to take her place this time around. What?
Hearing that, I decided to wait for the DVD to check out Underworld: Rise of the Lycans. Would Rhona Mitra be able to do a better job than she did in , ...
Taking Of Pelham 123 (2009)
After seeing the last Denzel Washington film directed by Tony Scott (), I was definitely interested in their latest team-up, The Taking Of Pelham 123. Toss in John Travolta as a bad guy (who I still fondly remember as a baddie in Broken Arrow), and I knew this one was going to be part of our Summer At The Movies '09.
After seeing some positive reviews, I was even more interested in seeing The Taking Of Pelham 123, even though I'd never seen the original film - or read the book for that matter. So, even when the theater ...
Hangover (2009)
Wow...here we are in June already! Seems like just the other day we were kicking off our Summer At The Movies '09 with , yet it's time for our 6th film of the summer.
While May's weeks were filled with obvious choices, the first week of June left us with a choice. Since we both didn't really want to see Will Ferrell try to be funny - and fail again - in , that left us with either seeing , which we had missed, or a lesser known film titled The Hangover. After hearing from a couple of ...
Summer 09 Movie Previews: June
With a (mostly) positive first month of our Summer At The Movies 2009 behind us, we look ahead to what's heading to our local multiplexes this June.
June
While we aren't big fans of Will Ferrell, the lack of competition on June 05 leaves it a tie between cheesy TV show remake and the riskier Hangover (unless we change our minds and go see the already released )
While new Eddie Murphy comedy looks cute, we're not going to miss seeing baddie John Travolta go up against Denzel Washington on the big screen in the action-packed remake ...
Up (2009)
Pixar is always a sure bet when it comes to movies. Whether they are sending us to communicate with childhood toys (Toy Story), bringing us face to face with the monster in our closet (), sending us under the sea () or even sending us to a future where the earth has become a garbage dump (), they manage to deliver one brilliant film after the next.
So, when we heard that Pixar's latest, Up, was heading our way this summer, there was never a question where we'd be opening weekend (sorry, ). But would Pixar be able to ...
Terminator Salvation (2009)
Ah, it's so much fun when it's summer, isn't it? All these films we've been hearing about since last summer are finally headed toward the local multiplex. This week, we had a pretty big choice to make for our Summer At The Movies '09 4th film - both of them sequels. Out of the two, we decided on checking out Terminator Salvation - mainly because it had more of a chance to surprise us. While looks to be fun, it's just more of the same from the first film. Terminator Salvation, on the other ...
